William Michael Jones, 55, passed away at home in Indianapolis on Monday, January 7, 2013 after a two year fight with gastric cancer. Michael was born on December 15, 1957 in Utica, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Laura Jones; brother, Robert Jones; and sister, Lauren Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Beth; sons, Will and Stephan Jones both of Indianapolis; brothers, Henry (Anne) Willis of Utica MS, Willie (Frettie) Jones of Houston Texas and Earnest (Ruby) Jones of Jackson, MS; sisters, Bettye Boozer Jones of Houston, TX, Bertha (Danny) Bennett, Sherri (Edmund) Moore of Richmond, TX, Deborah Jones, Jackson, MS and Dwunya (Glen) Haynes, Jackson, MS; sister in law, Dianne (Steve) Holland; brothers in law, Lowell (Paige) Bangert and Paul Bangert all from Albert Lea, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews in California, Indiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, South Dakota and Texas.
Michael was a certified surgical technician for 35 years. He worked at hospitals in Mississippi, Texas, Minnesota and Indiana. He enjoyed watching and supporting his sons as they participated in athletics and music. He enjoyed fishing, golf and watching sports of all sorts even though baseball was his favorite sport.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 12 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel, 8151Allisonville Road, Indianapolis. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time.
